In many civilized countries it is a law to get the medical consent signed before treatment. For that reason the hospitals are bound to disclose the facts about treatment to the family of patient before getting the medical consent signed by them.
The doctors are not allowed to operate the patients even when they are dying in absence of medical consent at places where it’s a law. If the doctors operate in such absence then liability totally goes to them.
