There are three types of cataract surgery depending upon the thickness of cloud on the natural lens. These types include phacoemulsification, extracapsular cataract surgery and intracapsular cataract surgery.
Phacoemulsification is the most modern type and it’s used when thickness of cloud is less and it’s easily breakable by ultrasonic waves. Extracapsular cataract deals with slightly thicker cloud on natural lens and the whole cloud is removed at once in it. Intracapsular cataract surgery is an old method and used for very thick cloud over natural lens.
